Based on court documents and testimonials, “Poacher” is a fictional dramatization of events that unfolded in the dense forests of Kerala and the urban jungle that is India’s capital Delhi. The series highlights the contributions made by Indian forest service officers, NGO workers from the Wildlife Trust of India, police personnel and good samaritans who risked their lives to investigate the largest ivory poaching ring in Indian history. It was filmed in real-life settings across Kerala and New Delhi and is primarily in the Malayalam, Hindi and English languages.

Richie Mehta is the creator of the series, and the writer / director / executive producer of all season one episodes.

THAI CAVE RESCUE (TELEVISION MINI SERIES)

In 2018, 12 boys from the same football team decided to spend an afternoon with their coach exploring the Tham Luang caves in northern Thailand. When heavy rainfall flooded the caves and trapped them inside, what was supposed to be a fun excursion turned into a massive international rescue operation that transfixed the world. Featuring the untold perspectives of the boys at the center of the rescue, Netflix partnered with filmmakers from Thailand and across the world for this new series, which premiered for audiences worldwide on September 22, 2022.

DELHI CRIME (TELEVISION DRAMA SERIES)

Delhi Crime is an Indian crime drama television series written and directed by Richie Mehta. Starring Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain and Rajesh Tailang, the series is set in the aftermath of the 2012 Delhi gang rape. Its first two episodes were premiered at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival in the Indie Episodic category. The series was released on Netflix on March 22, 2019. A second seasons was released in 2022 and a third season is scheduled to release in 2024.

After sending away his 12 year-old son Siddharth for work, Mahendra (a chain-wallah who fixes broken zippers on the streets) is relieved – his financial burdens will be alleviated. But when Siddharth fails to return home, Mahendra learns he may have been taken by child-traffickers. With little resources and no connections, he travels across India in pursuit, with the hope that whatever force arbitrarily took his child away will return him unharmed.

Shot in the hustle and bustle of New Delhi and Mumbai, this ssecond feature by writer/director Richie Mehta was a festival fan favourite and critical success.

One day he drives an eccentric billionaire G.K. JAYARAM who, disguised as a vagabond, is searching the streets for the last morsel of humanity, and someone to will his fortune to. After their fateful meeting, both of their lives are changed forever. Filmed on location in New Delhi, India, this modern day fable questions the meaning of wealth.

Written and Directed by Richie Mehta, this debut feature film was shot in live locations across New Delhi by a team consisting of 50% Canadian and 50% Indian crew.
